How to find the bibliographic details

In most cases, the bibliographic information you will need for a citation can be found near the top of any Full Record page.

The title, volume editor, publisher and publication date for all reference books, atlases and sourcebooks can be found on the Sourcebook Details Page. If a reference article is signed (contributed by an identified author), then the author name can be found on the Full Record page at the bottom of the article.

Citation formats

Most of the contents of History Study Center were originally published in print form before being reproduced in electronic versions; in these cases, it is important to remember to give the publication details of both the original print source and the electronic version. For content that is unique to History Study Center (such as KnowledgeNotes™ History Guides), you should give as much information as is available.

Conventions vary for citing works from an electronic subscription service, but most style guides stipulate a combination of the following details: the service's name, the electronic publisher, the library (or other subscribing institution), the date of access, and the URL of the service's home page.

Listed below are suggested citation formats for some typical items from History Study Center. These are included for guidance purposes only; users are advised to consult the published style guides listed at the foot of the page, or to consult their teacher/librarian.
