Study Unit Items are individually selected for their relevance to a particular Study Unit from other sources or databases e.g. Digital National Security Archives. They are not included in the main History Study Center datasets and can only be accessed via the Study Unit page.
The name of the source or database the item is taken from appears at the top of the Study Unit Item, linking to further information. This is followed by short bibliographic details and the full text of the item.
The full text may include thumbnail images where available. Click on a thumbnail image to display a full-page version of the relevant image.
The full text of some Study Unit Items appears as individual page images.
Some Study Unit Items appear as individual page images. In this case additional options are included on the page to navigate between pages and enlarge pages to view the text and graphics more clearly.
The View Page links list each page number in the item with the number of the page currently displayed highlighted. You can click on a number to display the relevant page image.
You can select an option from the Zoom to dropdown list to enlarge or reduce the size of the image by a particular percentage.
The following options are available on Study Unit Item pages:
There will be a link back to the Study Unit page.
View the durable URL for the item by clicking on this link. A popup will open, from which you can copy and paste the URL.
Open a version of the Full Text with all graphical elements and navigation stripped out ready for printing.
Open a PDF version of the item in a new window when available.
Store the current record in the Saved Records area of My Archive and come back to it at a later date by clicking the Save to My Archive link.
Generates a citation for the current item and displays it on a new page.
Opens a full-page version of the relevant image.
